VOTE! PSA Contest
Submissions due: Friday, October 23, 2020 @ 6PM
It’s a big election year! Help AYFF influence and educate eligible voters to uphold their civil duty and VOTE! We are seeking 30 and 60 second PSAs that encourage people to vote (regardless of party, background, etc.) or educate voters on things like voter’s rights, finding their polling place, what you need to cast a ballot, etc. The winning 2 films will take away a cash prize, be screened at a virtual event, and published online on multiple social media and websites to spread the word! VOTE!
Rules:
1) Young filmmakers should practice social distancing while making this film. Actors and crew should remain six feet apart unless quarantining together in the same house. The film should take place primarily at the home, since this contest is not an "essential reason" to leave the home. Take the BuzzFeed Social Distancing Quiz to make sure you are following this guideline!*
2) Creators must be currently enrolled in a Texas middle school, high school, or homeschool equivalent.
3) Films must be exactly 30 or 60 seconds in length.
4) Only one film submission per film will be accepted.
5) Films will not be judged by video quality. Feel free to shoot on phones, webcams, whatever you have available!
6) Stock footage and royalty free music can be used, but no copyrighted content! If your film uses footage that looks to have been shot by someone else, we may follow up to ask where it came from. So, be sure to note web addresses just in case!
*We will be highlighting students who submit their behind the scenes photos! If you have found an interesting way to collaborate or work solo, tag your photos @austinyouthfilmfest on instagram!
For free music, filming tips, etc. check out our Filmmaker Resource Center!
Winners will be announced at a virtual event date TBA at the end of October!
